AQ’AMNIK
SCHOOL & GYMNASIUM
Cranbrook, British Columbia
In 2012, Silverado Industries was involved in the construction of the ʔaq̓amnik School; we were brought in to complete the foundation and finishing work. Following the successful completion of the project, Silverado was awarded a multi-million dollar contract to build an addition to the structure. This design-build project was was designed per the client’s RFP submittal package and was completed in 2018.
At 12,000 square feet, its footprint includes a full commercial kitchen, a fitness centre and a large gymnasium as well as a stage for cultural and educational productions. The facility was designed and built with a heavy steel frame to withstand local natural phenomena such as high winds and heavy snow loads.
Our experience working with Silverado was a really positive one. The project came in on time and on budget — it was just 279 days from design to completion, and we had a really good outcome. The gymnasium is an expansion that we planned on when we built the school, but we didn’t have the budget to do it at the time.
